RELATED: Best Isekai Sub-Genres
While it would be easy to simply assess each player’s [STR] stats and evaluate their rankings from there, the results would not produce a well-rounded representation of their power during battle. As Maple has eloquently proven, one can refrain from upgrading their strength or attack points and still become an unstoppable powerhouse in their own right.
8 Dread, the Ninja Assassin
Class: Rouge
Specialty: Agility and Stealth
First Event Ranking: 2nd
Stealth and speed are the name of the game, as Dread (also spelled Dred) can cut his opponents down before they even notice his presence. His surefootedness reaches God-like proportions thanks to Shinsoku, which renders him practically invisible to the naked eye. In the unlikely event he gets cornered, this green guerrilla can always rely on the perks of Stout Guardian to avoid death’s door.
The downfall to his overwhelming swiftness is a lackluster defense, and those capable of catching the ninja assassin off guard don’t need much power behind their punches to get the job done. Nevertheless, Dread’s duel-wielding daggers are nothing to be trifled with, as his skills with a blade are top-notch, too.
7 Cheating Death with Chrome
Class: Shield and (Short) Sword
Specialty: Gambling with Death
First Event Ranking: 9th
In Kuromu’s case, “what does kill you makes you stronger” because, ironically, he has gained most of his skill sets while flirting with death; he would be eliminated from any potential deadpool bets, considering how regularly he is forced to respawn. However, each time, Chrome comes back stronger and has used his experiences to create his own defensive fighting style, with some bonus battle healing to boot.

Chrome scored some unique armor and newfound skills after his solo mission into the Tomb of the Dead, where he defeated the Boss (with Syrup’s assistance). He subsequently receives a huge confidence boost whenever his Dead or Alive ability comes into play, as a fatal blow has a 50% chance of being brushed aside, while his elusive Stout Guardian skill makes Chrome even harder to kill.
6 The Cultured Kasumi
Class: Swordmaiden
Specialty: Enhanced [HP] and Agility, traditional weaponry
First Event Ranking: 6th
This katana-wielding beauty is one of the few people capable of keeping up with Sally’s speed, and Kasumi’s selective skillset is almost solely focused on improving her swordsmanship and granting temporary stat increases (although often at a cost).
First of the Swords: Heat Haze is a useful manipulation tactic that distorts the victim’s vision, while Seventh of the Swords: Crush turns her into a demolition expert. Beginning Tachi: Void is this heroine’s best attack by far, granting her a quick makeover and incredible power; however, Kasumi’s skill activation in the light novels comes with much greater consequences than in the anime, which is extremely lenient in comparison.
5 Yui and Mai’s Team Effort
Class: Hammermaidens
Specialty: Strength, overpowered weapons
These timid twins are as naive as Maple when it comes to MMORPG gameplay; however, after following a similar strategy, they have theoretically become the strongest fighters around. Unfortunately, the sisters assigned no skill points to their agility or vitality, so while Yui and Mai’s Berserker builds provide brutal results on the battlefield, they are essentially sitting ducks; these twins need constant support and supervision to survive any conflict.

With the Maple Tree Guild’s support, Yui and Mai can incapacitate most enemies with a few well-placed blows, usually favoring their Aftershock and Double Stamp attacks while swinging their ridiculously oversized hammers around. Their effectiveness improves considerably once Destroyer is acquired, allowing each sister to control deadly duel-wielding weapons singlehandedly.
4 Mii the Magician
Class: Mage
Specialty: Fire Magic
First Event Ranking: 4th
The leader of the Flame Emperors gives off strong warmonger vibes, and although Mii has the power to back it up, her ego is rather fragile behind closed doors. Her charm and charisma have amassed the largest following in NewWorld Online, while her fiery powers can cover a vast area, taking out multiple units simultaneously, so her loyal subordinates have little to fear and eagerly rally to her side.
Mii’s strongest spell, Flame Prison, encapsulates her foes in a burning, virtually indestructible cage that deals damage over time; however, the spellcasting takes quite some time. Flare Accel puts a spin on ice-skating and is great for increasing movement speed, whereas Self-Destruct is obviously only used as a last measure, as Mii becomes a kamikaze bomber in the hopes of taking her enemy down with her.
3 Sally The Speedy Swashbuckler
Class: Swashbuckler
Specialty: Duel-wielding swordsmaiden, enhanced Agility
Although she arrived late in the game and missed the first event, not making it onto competitors’ radars allowed Sally to sneak in and dominate without much issue (after racking up some substantial stats of her own). Sally’s intense speed is almost unmatched and, when accompanied by her intuitive reflexes, is often mistaken for a specialized skill that allows her to strike down her foes and evade most attacks with ease.

For someone whose first skill boosted their fishing competency, this gamer girl has developed into one of the strongest players around, capable of singlehandedly taking out entire guilds at a time. Activating Sword Dance, Coax Attack, and Illusions is arguably her best combo (as of Season 1), while Sally’s natural talents, and flamethrowing Oboro, take the credit for most of her success.
2 Piercing With Payne
Class: Paladin
Specialty: Great Swordsman, Allrounder
First Event Ranking: 1st
The leader of the Congregation of the Holy Swords guild has most opponents running in fear, and even the almightly Maple had a brush with death after taking Payne head-on. This Paladin is so potent against Maple in particular because most of his skills focus on Piercing Attacks, leaving the Great Shielder (and any other foe) practically defenseless against his advances.
Payne is arguably the only player to give Maple any major cause for concern, especially after he nearly depletes her HP with just a Defense Strike and Sword of Judgment combo. Much like his nemesis, Payne has also picked up the Stout Guardian skill, allowing him to defy death with one HP (meaning he also technically classifies as a Shielder).
1 The Invincible Maple
Class: Great Shielder
Specialty: High [VIT] Defence, Poison Damage
First Event Ranking: 3rd
It seems absurd for someone who maxed out their defense stats to top the charts; however, Kaede Honjou’s beginner’s luck (and complete disregard for gaming mechanics) benefits her greatly. This noob defies all logic with her fighting style and has subsequently become the most broken character in NewWorld Online (if not Isekai history), thanks to her endless supply of secret skills and weapons.
Some of Maple’s top techniques incorporate her Machine God mecha ability, the protective Loving Sacrifice troop shield, her paralyzing Hydra poison, the demonic Atrocity transformation, the nullifying Devour, and much, much more! Maple’s oversized flying turtle, Syrup, also packs a mighty punch, adding to the Great Shielder’s omnipotence. Nobody knows what outlandish combo this energetic Guild Leader will pull out her sleeve next, but it’s guaranteed to entertain (and likely make her more invincible, somehow!)
