Team Reptile is mainly known for its work on extreme sports fighting game Lethal League Blaze, which is heavily inspired by the visual and musical style of the Jet Set Radio series. In that respect, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is the next logical step for the studio, which has been inspired by Sega’s series from day 1.

The teaser, which is only thirty-three seconds long, reveals that the game features a visual style that pays pixel perfect tribute to 2002’s Jet Set Radio: Future, featuring angular, futuristic character designs in a sprawling, colorful city. The trailer also features a track titled “Get Enuf” from Jet Set Radio composer Hideki Naganuma, who will be composing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk’s soundtrack. While the trailer is brief, it reveals some of the game’s different playable characters and showcases some of the parkour elements, such as wall-running and grinding.

While this trailer does come with the unfortunate news that Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has been delayed to 2022, given that Sega seems to be done with the Jet Set Radio franchise, waiting an extra year seems a lot more manageable than never seeing a game with such an overflowing and distinct sense of visual and musical flair ever again.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will launch in 2022 on “all relevant platforms.”
